On Friday, December 6th, Pea Ridge students had the opportunity to sell their own creations to students, parents, and the community at the “1st Christmas Market at The Ridge.” This was done in partnership with Project 479, a program run by Reality Check, a community-based non-profit organization. Project 479 serves as an intervention measure for students with different needs. They work with around 30-35 students daily in small group environments, encouraging students to understand their value and learn where they are gifted.
While working with Project 479, students have a plethora of opportunities for hands-on learning and creating. Options range from art therapy via painting and working with clay, to creating movie masks, woodworking, building furniture, creating stained glass, and making instruments. Many students learn to sew pillows, blankets, and clothing or make rugs.
Project 479 is currently the only one of its kind in Arkansas and we are thankful to have them working with our students in Pea Ridge!
