Pea Ridge High School hosted a heartwarming Veterans Day assembly this morning that went beyond the traditional ceremonies. This year's event took a special focus on the school's veteran teachers, recognizing and honoring their selfless service to both the nation and their students.

The assembly, held in the school's arena, began with a poignant rendition of the national anthem, setting a respectful tone for the occasion. Students, staff, and community members gathered to pay tribute to those who have served in the armed forces, with a unique emphasis on the distinguished group of educators who are also veterans.

The highlight of the event was a touching tribute to our veteran teacher, Lieutenant Colonel Mike Bobbitt, featuring his story of his military service and his subsequent commitment to shaping the minds of the next generation.

Principal Leonard Ogden expressed gratitude for the exceptional contributions of our veteran teachers, stating, "Our school is privileged to have such dedicated educators who bring valuable  experiences and commitment to service into their classrooms."

The school choir delivered a soul-stirring performance, featuring the classic "Shenandoah" and other melodies. Our band complemented the tribute with patriotic tunes, showcasing their dedication to honoring veterans through skillful and stirring performances. This musical tribute, led by our talented performing arts teachers, added a powerful and resonant element to the annual event.

Educating with honor is a core value in Pea Ridge Schools, and this special focus on veteran teachers during the Veterans Day assembly underscored the importance of recognizing the diverse contributions of those who have served our nation. The event served as a powerful reminder that the spirit of service extends far beyond the battlefield and into the hearts and minds of those shaping the future.
